范文

Everyone remembers getting their first mobile phone like it was yesterday. My first phone was as slow as molasses in January and ugly as sin, but at the time I was as happy as a clam! I still have the phone today as I keep it for the memories and nostalgia. It looks so outdated these days against modern smartphones, like an old relic.

My mother surprised me with this phone on my 17th birthday. I remember waking up to find a small package next on my bed next to my head. I had no idea what it was, so I ripped open the wrapping paper with a huge grin on my face. To my surprise, my mum had bought me a stunning Nokia phone and I was in seventh heaven.

When I compare this phone with modern smartphones, it looks like something out of a museum. However, at the time the phone was actually considered to be quite modern and sleek in design. It was silver in color and had an elegant slide cover that clicked into place.

What I remember most is how the phone totally changed my life and opened up new opportunities for me. I joined a Chinese messaging service called QQ and I was instantly connected to all my friends 24/7. It was so addictive! I spent hours in deep chats with people all over China and the rest of the world. It was an amazing experience.

雅思口语好的服务话题

Describe an occasion where you received a good service from a company or shop

You should say:

What the service was

When and where it happened

Whom you were together with

How you felt about it

And explain why you think it was good service

Two years ago, I succeeded in returning a broken sweater to customer service at ABC store in Canada with my friend. I was very satisfied with the returning service there. It could be the best returning experience I've ever had.

I bought a sweater from ABC store two years ago and washed it immediately after buying it. However, I found it's broken after being washed on the same day. I took this sweater to the store, wishing I could return it by some luck because usually clothes couldn't be returned or exchanged after being washed. The lady was so nice. She apologized immediately after listening to my request. She said it's their quality problem and promised to refund in 3 business days. She apologized again for the poor quality and shopping experience. I didn't expect it could be solved so smoothly and easily. I would like to shop there again just for their great service.

雅思口语特别的东西话题

Describe a special thing you want to buy in the future.

You should say:

what it is

why you want to buy it

how long do you want to have it. 【how long if you wanted it?】

and how to get it.

I don’t think I’m alone when I say buying an apartment is at the top of my list. I've had my heart set on one by the sea, in a city like Qingdao, preferably with nice views and an outside space like a balcony or veranda. At the moment I’m single, so it might start off as a bit of a bachelor pad, but it’ll need to be big enough to raise a family eventually, so I reckon ninety-five square meters or so should do the trick.

I think I’ve wanted to buy my own place ever since I moved out of home to go to university and got a taste of the independent life. It’s also part of tradition that a man should have a house before he gets married, along with a car and a good job to provide for his wife. I want to buy a flat and settle down in a city that I can see myself spending the rest of my life in and I think Qingdao really fits the bill.

I don’t like relying on my parents for money and I’m dead set on saving up the necessary funds myself. Sadly, apartments by the sea cost an arm and a leg, so if I want to realize my dream I’ll be saving up for ages, but with hard work and determination. I’m sure I can reach my goal!

雅思口语艺术活动话题

Describe an art activity.

You should say:

when it happened

what you did in this activity

who you did with

and explain how you felt after doing it.

I’m very fond of art; my apartment is full of statues and masks and my walls are covered in paintings and prints. Having said that, I don’t tend to make my own art. I don’t think I’m particularly creative and I’d say I’m more practically or scientifically minded. The only time I can really remember regularly taking part in any art activity was when I was at school, but there was one time on vacation when I dabbled in a bit of art.

It was two years ago when I was on holiday in Indonesia. I was on a tour of some local villages and we came across a woman doing pottery. She asked if anyone would like to have a go, but nobody wanted to be the first one to take her up on her offer. I decided to try my hand at it, so I sat down and got stuck in.

You start by putting a lump of clay on a potter’s wheel and dropping a little water on top. The wheel begins to turn and you use your hands to form the shape you want, maybe a short, fat bowl or a tall, thin vase. I didn’t really have a clue what I was doing, so the woman took my hands and basically did all the work herself. We made a short, stumpy bowl and then used my thumb to put dents in the rim, so it ended up looking like an ashtray.

Once it was finished my hands were covered in clay and I felt a bit embarrassed as lots of people were watching and I had needed a lot of help to make the ashtray. Still, I felt good for being the first person to try and it was only a bit of fun; no one took it very seriously.
