9 h is a new capsule hotel that offers luxury in a minimum livingspace. The first hotel opened in Kyoto; the building itself is 9 stories talland hosts 125 capsules, locker rooms, showers, and a lounge. The 9h CapsuleHotel is named that because guests at the new 9h Hotel check in, take showers, sleep in a pod, refresh, and then leave, all within 9 hours.

Capsule hotels are almost symbolic of urban Japan, which provideguests a private sleeping area and communal amenities. While the concept haspreviously been utilized as a cheaper hotel option, the 9h capsule hotel addsluxury and refinement. The bed capsule will be made up with 4-star hotel sheetsand provides a Panasonic system that uses light to naturally and comfortablywake you up.

First, leave your shoes in the shoebox, fill out the check-in card, get your locker key and sleep pod number, and then take the elevators to thelocker room floor. Next, store your belongings in your locker and slip into 9Hwear. Third, slide into your sleep pod for a rest. Then, after you are gentlyawakened by your pod, go back to the showers and locker room and reviveyourself. Lastly, return your locker room key to the front desk and be on yourway.

I love the space-age of the 9H Hotel but I honestly don't know howI'd feel about sleeping in one of the pods. I feel claustrophobic in a walk-incloset so I can only imagine how I'd react to a pod. Still, if you're lookingat a hotel not for the amenities but as a place to sleep, this could be a greatdeal.

Do you prefer to study in a quiet environment or an environment with some sounds?

Well, I guess on the whole I prefer to study in a quiet environment, the main reason being that I find it easier to concentrate, because noises or sounds tend to distract me. So in other words, I tend to get more work done when I can't hear anything around me. But saying that, I do occasionally like to listen to some music while I'm studying, because it can make it a little bit more enjoyable.

Does your school have any quiet places for studying?

Yeah, I guess I'm quite lucky in this respect, because there's a pretty big library on our campus with loads of desks for studying, and I'm always able to get quite a lot of work done there, as it's really nice and quiet.

What natural sound do you like the most?

That's an interesting question, and I'm not really that sure to be honest with you, but I guess I would probably say the natural sound I like most is that of waves hitting the seashore, because it's just really soothing, if you know what I mean. And it's a sound I only really get to hear when I'm on holiday, so I also probably associate it with being on holiday, which would be another reason why I like it so much!

Are there any sounds that you dislike?

Yeah, for sure! I mean, firstly, I really can't stand the sound of drilling, simply because it's just such a loud and unpleasant noise, so that would definitely be at the top of my list. And I guess the next one would be the sound of cars hooting, mainly because I hear it all the time where I live, and so it gets quite irritating after a while, especially when I'm trying to concentrate on something.

Are you ever bothered by noise?

Yeah, for sure, especially when I'm trying to get to sleep, you know, if there's a dog barking or something, it can really be quite maddening, but during the day I'd say I can put up with pretty much most noise, unless, of course, the noise is really loud and relentless, like if there's construction or renovation work going on around me.

Do you think that cities will become noisier in the future?

That's a hard question, and I'm really not that sure to be honest with you, but I guess my feeling would be that they probably will get noisier, yeah, basically because if you compare the situation in cities now to what it was like 10 or 15 years ago, then it's obvious that cities have got a lot noisier, mainly, of course, due to the increase in traffic on the roads. So unless something changes, I would say that this trend is likely to continue into the future, unfortunately.

Describe a popular comic actor /actress you know

You should say:

Who he/she is

How you knew him/her

What comedies have he/she performed

And explain why he/she is popular

I’d like to tell you about a well known actor who is very funny, his name is Rowan Atkinson, he’s proably best known worldwide for his funny character Mr Bean. I first saw him in a movie on DVD and I thought he was really hilarious.

Later I discovered some other old DVDs of TV shows he had done in the past. I think I’ve watched nearly all of the shows he’s done now. In fact I watched a movie of his just a couple of weeks ago with a friend… it was a spoof spy movie like the James Bond movies but he was useless at everything and it was very funny. I hadn’t seen it for years but my friend found the old DVD and we decided to watch it.

He’s funny because he is so ridiculous and yet loveable at the same time. He always seems to have the best intentions but he gets himself into terrible problems and funny situations just doing normal things.

The things he does are very simple, but very funny and I think it’s because most of his comedy is based on real life everyday situations that lots of people can relate to it and just how easy it would be for it to happen in real life. His style of comedy is very clever.

He’s popular not only in my country but all around the world. As I said I think that people like him because it’s not complex humour – it could happen to anyone, but it normally doesn’t, however, it always seems to happen to him.

Another thing that’s different to many other comic actors is that he doesn’t normally speak a lot, he’s funny because of his facial gestures and body movements… the comedy doesn’t rely on smart or witty dialogue… just on the silly situation or events that he’s involved in. That’s something that makes him appealing to a very wide audience.

How 【or why】 do some actors/some comedians become famous?

Probably because they appeal to a large group of people. If it’s a comedian, it may be their style, the topic of their humour or just the connection they make with their audience. Some movie actors become famous for one particular film which brings them to the attention of a worldwide audience.

It might be a Hollywood blockbuster which is popular all over the world. And of course some actors become famous or popular because of their good looks or the character which they play in movies.

Do comedians earn a lot of money?

It depends, there are different types of comedians. Those who work on TV, those who do films and then those who do stand up comedy in theatres and clubs. I suppose some of them don’t earn that much money, but on the other hand, those who do become really successful can earn millions.

Do you think these people deserve to earn so much money?

Yes, I don’t see a problem with them earning a lot of money. If people like them and are willing to pay to see them, either live or in a movie, then they deserve the money they receive. It’s just like any other artist or entertainer. If they are good then they will probably earn lots of money because people value what they do.

Letters

1.Yes, I almost write emails for my clients as part of my job on a daily basis.

2.There are many things I have to write, for example, I usually write end user training for my clients to teach them how to use the system, or I write the development guide for my technical staffs to tell them how to code.

3.If I were to choose between the two, I’ll probably go with writing things with a computer. I believe that in the age of fast pace and a culture of efficiency, writing with computers can bring people convenience and efficiency. Whereas, hand writing stuff is really hard to share.

4.Well, between the two, a letter is printed or handwritten on actual paper and sent through the mail while an email is typed on a computer, tablet or smartphone and sent electronically. While emails have become a more popular way of communication for individuals and businesses, traditional letters still have a place in today’s modern, tech-oriented society.

5.Normally it seems like a daily routine for me to write emails to my clients about how to use the system; but if they complain to me about the poor user experience, I sometimes really find myself getting stuck in how to explain everything to cool them down.

6.I would be feeling excited to receive a letter or email from other because the sender has spent time writing it. Especially when someone writes to me to appreciate me or compliment me about my responsible work.

7.Well, if I were to choose between the two, I will probably go with writing an email because I can have plenty of time thinking about how to express my opinion correctly and clearly, besides, the whole conversation can be tracked in the mail list; whereas, you know, making a telephone call usually leads to misunderstanding because sometimes it is not very accurate and obscure.

8.I believe that as a major method of communication between people, letter writing has a vast and interesting history; besides, handwritten letters are personal. They show the receiver that someone has spent time and effort in communicating with them. They are a way of connecting two people that cannot be achieved through the impersonal use of texts or instant messages. Therefore, I feel that the handwriting letters are irreplaceable in the future.

9.Very few on that note. Generally everyone prefers letters but there are some who are crazy about them. My mother is one such person. She is so fond of letters that no matter how many other things I give to her, every letter that I write makes her happier than anything in the world.
