Describe a park you visited when you were a child.

You should say:

Where the park is

What it looks like

What you did in the park

And explain how you felt about it

The park I visited and really liked when I was young is about five-minute walk from my home. Situated in the center of my community, it is actually a recreation place for all citizens living nearby. If you ever go around the blocks there, you won’t miss this park, because it is always packed with people.

The park, covering just a small area, is yet thickly wooded, with a lot of trees over a hundred years old. It is just fascinating to see that such a ‘tiny’ park could accommodate a beautiful lush green meadow, which I think, is probably the most refreshing part of the park. In fact, the park has several different looks at different seasons of a year, and it surpasses itself in beauty when spring comes because the blossoms of multicolored flowers are so stunning to see.

Since the first day I moved to this block with my family at the age of 12, we have made it our habit to go strolling after dinner in the park every day. The tranquil and peaceful environment in the park really is a good refresher for someone who has just lived through another tiring day of school, like me. As dusk arrives, street lights turn on, and the air gets quite cozy too. Here, let me paint a picture for you. You stroll along a path in a quiet park, enjoying the shading sunlight in sight and having a pleasant chat with your loved ones. Trust me, this is definitely going to wash away your tension and pressure.

Well, to be honest, I am not that type of people who are really into visiting parks, but it couldn’t have been better for someone who has survived yet another tiring day, like me, to take a walk in a peaceful park after dinner. Strolling along the garden-like walkways and appreciating the picturesque views with gentle breezes touching your cheeks is something highly enjoyable. Well, if you get lucky, you might even get to see how the sunset glow gradually tints the sky red. With all these beautiful park views in mind, my memories about it will always be peaceful and warm.

Describe a law/rule that you think is good

What it is

how you knew it

Who it affects

Why you think it is good

PART 3

What kind of people can become police officers?

Do you think both men and women can be police officers?

Do you think police officers are paid too much?

Is kindness the most important quality of a police officer?

The law that prevents the child labour is the one I really appreciate and like. The law regarding the child labour prevents the employers from engaging anyone below 18 years old to be engaged in any work that possesses a threat to the child.

Though I am not an employer and do not face the situation where I need to decide whether I should involve a child to such work, I should not say if I abide by this law or not. Nevertheless, I fully support the law and would never violate it. If I am even remotely involved in abiding by this law, I would definitely obey this law.

I feel that this is an important law and everybody should abide by this law. Children are our next generation and their safety should be our priority. So we should never engage them in hazardous work and should make sure that they are getting the proper education. Though the government and the parents of those kids have a responsibility to nurture them and ensure their education, sometimes it is beyond their control and each of us should make sure that we are not violating this law.

I like this law because it prevents the greedy employers to engage the children to hazardous and dangerous works because of low payment. The children who should be at school and in playground should not get involved in works that possess dangers to them. Since this law strictly prohibits the citizens from doing such thing that ruin the children future, I really feel a great respect for this law.

Describe a useful skill you learned in a math class in primary or secondary school.

You should say :

What the skill was

When you had the class

Who taught you the skill

How you learned the skill

and explain why you think it was useful

I’d like to talk about the linear equation with one unknown, which proved to be really really helpful in life.

I think it was introduced to us in the 5th grade of primary school, if memory serves me right. We were told the equation was, without doubt, a crucial component in the syllabus. Our math teacher was quite experienced, 【I remember,】 to say the least. He used a wide range of examples to make the equation as simple as possible for us. So, basically, youname the unknown or the variable as X. Then, all you gotta do is to move all the numbers to the right-hand side of the equation, leaving the X on the left. With certain subtractions or divisions and such, and bang, Bob’s your uncle. You get the value of X.

Back then, it was just another math problem in my homework for me, really. It wasn’t until recently that I found it could be a massive help in life. I remember last month, I went to a swimming club to join the membership. They’ve got two kinds of membership card. For the golden membership, you pay 2 grand for the card and it comes with unlimited free entries for a year. The silver only costs you 400, but you’re gonna have to pay another 40 every time you use the swimming pool. I used the equation to work out that if I was to go swimming for more than 40 times, I should definitely opt for the golden, if less than 40, the silver.

You see, it provides me with a logical and effective way to make the best choice when I need to compare offers. It’s just a marvelous piece of skill !!

1. What skills are necessary when making decisions?

Making decisions is a complex process, which might involve a great many skills. For starters, the ability of collecting facts and figures is essential, because the first step of making a decision is to get a whole understanding of the relevant information. Sometimes, we need to be computer-literate to look up information on the Internet. Secondly, we shall be able to do some data analysis so that we can make a wise decision. In addition, we need to keep calm inside, even when it is an urgent situation and we are asked to make prompt decisions, otherwise we might decide on something and regret it quite soon. Finally, a good decision-maker should be able to control his own mood and never get emotional, since we are not likely to make a good decision when we are thrilled, furious or anxious. So to sum up, there are plenty of necessary skills when making a decision. Sometimes we are not even aware of them.

2. How can people improve their decision-making skills?

这个题目的回答思路其实还是比较广的,我们可以将此题和上一题联系起来【很多时候考官确实会把这样的两道题目连着问】,那么此时我们就应该从上一题的答案出发,具体讲解如何提高搜集信息的能力,如何提高分析数据的能力等等,这是一个思路;

I think people can improve their decision-making skills the way they do to improve all other skills – by learning and practising. If someone feels that he is not good at making decisions, the first thing he might have to do is to observe – to find out how others will react when it comes to a similar circumstance. The second step is to compare and contrast. By doing this, people can have a clear understanding of the strong points and the weakness in their decision-making process, so that they could make a progress. The key point of improving the decision-making skills lies in practice. Just like everything, decision-making skills could get strengthened only when we put them into reality. Provided we keep training ourselves in this way, we can all become wise and responsible decision-makers.
