Describe a time that you need your imagination.

You should say:

What the situation was

Why you needed to use imagination

What the difficulties were

And explain how you felt about it.

Honestly, I had to admit that I am quite a down-to-earth person and barely either spend time imagining or day dreaming. However, every now and then in school life, imagination is life saver in remembering the knowledge, especially in the subject of History.

down-to-earth adj. 实际的,务实的: practical, reasonable, and friendly

every now and then偶尔,有时 sometimes but not often

Indeed, envisaging images and actions inside my head based on the story or series of events in the book enabled me to acquire new things way more efficiently. For instance, in the time of learning about the history of chocolate, by using the technique of imagination, just like making a movie inside my head, I could remember quickly a quite enormous knowledge and can still recall today.

envisage v.

way more更多

I can tell you that wild chocolate trees can grow easily in the humid Amazon rainforest. Clusters of flowers from these trees turn to seeds. Approximately 20 to 60 cacao beans, which are the ingredient needed to create sweet, soothing and delicious chocolate treats, can be found in the seeds. The Mayan and Aztec cultures both thought that chocolate trees are brought from paradise by God. They used the bean from this divine tree to create a special beverage with a very pleasant odor. Gradually, the treats and drinks made of these beans become prominent and millions of people around the world adore it as the most delicious sweet ever.

1. What can smartphones do these days?

Well, smartphones are, after all, phones, so they can basically meet all the expectations we should have for ordinary mobile phones. That is to say, we can still use a smartphone to send text messages or make phone calls. However, smartphones are more than that. For example, we can use a wide range of smartphone applications, which have all kinds of functions, from offering discounts tohelping us keep fit. Besides, smartphones can always access internet, which means we can search literally for everything at anytime with smartphones. This sounded like science fiction in the past, but offers great convenience at present.

2. Since most people do their work on computers, why do they still need to go to the offices?

Well, I have to say, although computers can help us work out most problems, there are still many things, which need to be discussed face-to-face, so offices provide an ideal place for colleagues to meet and consult with each other. Besides, for some people, homes are very cozy and private places, not suitable for working, so they would rather commute to offices than bring work home, even though digital technologies have made remote workingavailable. Having said those, a trend of working from home as well as working flexible hours has become increasingly more popular. I think this should be attributed to the use of computer technology.

1. Why do people give up their hobbies?

lack of time缺少时间

take for granted想当然

In most cases, people give up their hobbies for lack of time, sometimes they need someone to keep them accompanied. They feel overwhelmed at a job ,even do not have enough time for work ,so they take for granted that no time for hobbies. However, people with full, busy, even stressful lives may need hobbies more than the average person, and benefit greatly from having hobbies in their lives. Hobbies bring many benefits that usually make them more than worth the time they require.

2. What are the difficulties that people may have to continue to learn something?

continue to do持续做某事

failure n.

When people continue to learn something ,they will have to confront many setbacks and failures from time to time ,if they can’t see the improvement or the results failed to meet their expectation ,their confidence and self-esteem get impaired, they may quit.

3. What do you think of online learning?

majority of ~~大量的

I think it's great; although it's not for everyone, and obviously every subject. Typically, I'm able to take more units when I have the majority of my semester classes online, due to physical time constraints, as well as, saving transportation costs. We can learn anything in anytime we want, we don't have to go to class or have our teacher right there. There are resources to help you. So I think it's very useful, convenient and accessible.

4. Do you think learning materials on the Internet are reliable?

that’s to say也就是说

Judging the reliability of sources found on the Internet is crucial because there is no regulating body that monitors the reliability of what is on the Internet. We need to give some thoughts to where we found it, whether the person who put it on the Internet is a reliable authority on the subject. That’s to say, we have to verify the origin of resources.
