有关能源的托福作文

In the context of increasingly severe pollution, some people state that fossil fuels, one of the main contributing factors, should be replaced by cleaner energies. Others, however, cite their concern over the higher expenditure of those alternative resources. From my perspective, at present, traditional energy sources ought to continue to play the crucial role in supplying energy, while the research on making cleaner energy more easily available cannot be delayed.

In human history, such traditional sources as coal and oil have been serving as the main resources to generate electricity as well as allow the vehicles to run.Despite the fact that those fossil fuels have had a detrimental effect on the environment, such as the effluents from factories and automobile waste, it is next to impossible to thoroughly replace them immediately, given the lack of a widely used clean energy. However, importance can be attached on developing the technology to purify the polluted emission. Besides, the higher cost of the current cleaner energies the incapability to optimize them cannot be ignored, which prevents them from becoming widespread.

Nevertheless, essential attention is supposed to be put on the exploiting the clean energies, due to the fact that capitalizing on them is able to conserve the environment and traditional energies are reducing at an alarming rate. On the one hand, there has been a reliable prediction that the left traditional fuels could only sustain for no more than a century, which calls for developing alternative cleaner energies without delay. On the other hand, human beings are confronted with the unprecedented environmental headaches, the global warming, rising sea level and ozone layer hole, all of which require effective measures. Otherwise, human beings will be pushed onto the brink of disaster and finding alternative cleaner energies would be able to ease the situation, as fossil fuels are one of the main reasons leading to the pressing problems.

Therefore, it can be concluded that there is a need for the traditional fossil fuels to enact the role of supplying energy and power, whereas it is advisable for the authorities to exploit alternative cleaner sources of energy for the sake of preserving the environment as well as the sustainable development of human society.

保护能源的方式托福作文

Here on earth, ever increasing quantities of energy are beingexpended daily. Of course, social development relies tremendously on theexploration and utilization of natural resources. Therefore, in order to saveour planet from further destruction while ensuring fundamental human needs aremet, a balanced energy conservation plan should be developed by the government. Some people hold the view that increasing the price of gasoline and electricityis the only way to solve such a dilemma. Honestly speaking, I do not considerthis to be the only way to meet this objective.

First and foremost, there is every reason to emphasize theurgency in conserving energy. The rapid pace in economic prosperity has led to unprecedentedhigh rate of energy consumption. If such a trend continues without efficientcontrol, most of the precious natural resources may be depleted within a shorttime. Thus, no longer would they be available for human needs and socialdevelopment will be trapped in a crisis. Moreover, the burningof fossil fuels is a major cause of global warming which disrupts the globalclimate and causes sea level to rise. Under no circumstanceshould these shocking facts go unrecognized by the government.

With reference to raising gasoline and electricity prices, this might be a temporary approach. Admittedly, if private car owners are forced topay more, a number of them might cautiously limit the use of cars due to thehigher cost. Thus, the total amount of gasoline consumption will be reduced. The same istrue with the rise of electricity prices. It will remind people of thenecessity to form good habits of saving electricity in daily life. Forinstance, some of them may start to turn off the lights during day. However, there could be hidden problems. To illustrate, tempted by bigger profits, some oilcompanies might exploit more oil fields, which will introduce moreenvironmental problems like air and water pollution.

In fact, other means of energy conservation also deservefocused attention from the government. One of these effectivemethods is to facilitate the replacement of non-renewable resources with renewableenergy. In this way, more energy might be conserved due to the reduction in exploitation. Besides, such renewable resources like solar power and wind are environmentally friendlyand can never cause pollution. Undeniably, if more solar products are inventedand manufactured for ordinary households, fewer natural resources will beconsumed and pollution will be reduced at the same time. Therefore, thegovernment should help promote the use of renewable resources so as to use energyefficiently.

To conclude, there is still a long way to go before the issueof energy conservation is finally settled. Maybe it is alogical approach for the government to raise the price of gasoline andelectricity. However, the side effects of such action should not beoverlooked. Meanwhile, other methods also need to be considered. Within theofficial energy guidelines, every person can support energy conservation intheir own way.

可再生能源托福作文

Car manufacturers and governments have been eagerly seeking a replacement for the automobile’s main source of power, the internal-combustion engine. By far, the most promising alternative source of energy for cars is the hydrogen-based fuel-cell engine, which uses hydrogen to create electricity that, in turn, powers the car. Fuel-cell engines have several advantages over internal-combustion engines and will probably soon replace them.

One of the main problems with the internal-combustion engine is that it relies on petroleum, either in the form of gasoline or diesel fuel. Petroleum is a finite resource, someday; we will run out of oil. The hydrogen needed for fuel-cell engines cannot easily be depleted. Hydrogen can be derived from various plentiful sources, including natural gas and even water. The fact that fuel-cell engines utilize easily available, renewable resources makes them particularly attractive.

Second, hydrogen-based fuel cells are attractive because they will solve many of the world’s pollution problems. An unavoidable by-product of burning oil is carbon dioxide, and carbon dioxide harms the environment. On the other hand, the only byproduct of fuel-cell engines is water.

Third, fuel-cell engines will soon be economically competitive because people will spend less money to operate a fuel-cell engine than they will to operate an internal-combustion engine. This is true for one simple reason. A fuel-cell automobile is nearly twice as efficient in using its fuel as an automobile powered by an internal-combustion engine is. In other words, the fuel-cell powered car requires only half the fuel energy that the internal-combustion powered car does to go the same distance.
