其中buildings包括:Describe a library、a museum、a building in your university、a monument in your city、your ideal house;

Places包括:Describe a restaurant、a shopping center、a street、a hotel、a city you visited、a place with water;

Scenic spots包括:Describe a historical place、a natural beauty、a river or lake

Municipality under the central government直辖市;Coastal city海滨城市;Long history悠久历史;Modern city现代城市;Provincial city省会;Ancient /historical city古城……

Where,When,Who,What 【see,do】,Why and How。

Describe a historical place.

You should say:

what this place is called

where this historical place is

what history this place is famous for

and explain why you think this place is impressive.

1.what this place is called这个地方是什么?——2.where this historical place is这个历史胜地在哪?——3.what history this place is famous for这个地方因为什么而出名——4.and explain why you think this place is impressive.

1、Where it is

1】地点描述:be sited in/ be located in/ be situated in/ be in the vantage point in

{flouring/ prosperous/ clamoring/ bustling/ quiet/ tranquil/ serene/ peaceful/ undisturbed}area/ district/ lots……

2】 天气:tropical/ temperate/ frigid zone→drizzle day/ pouring day/ dog days/ showery day

3】地形: plain/ plateau/ meadow/ gorge/ hill/ coast/ inland/ peninsula/ basin/ wetland/ terrace

2、How often you go there 【when you went there】

It’s fairly/ super close to my accommodation so that I’m allowed to take stroll there every day. But mornings are my preference, owing to the adorable sight there.

It’s way far from my accommodation. I just visit there once in a blue moon.

3、What you like to do there 【what you did there】

自然风光的描述:grassy area/ limpid gleaming water/ blue ocean, just like sapphire/ vast stretches of plain/ winding ally/ boundless meadow/ endless plateau

如:wrapping/ filling/ ingredient/ tender/ pungent/ blander/ crispy/ creamy…

4、How you feel about this place【Why you like this place】

Distinctive/ metropolitan/ cosmopolitan/ modern/ exotic/ unparalleled/ incomparable

Bring you a great immense of memory/ nostalgia/ reminder/ memento/ intangible bond/ tie…

Describe a historical place that you visited.

You should say:Where this place is,When you went to this place,What you did there, and explain how you felt about visiting this historical place.

Describe a museum/an old building/your favorite building/an important traditional building等。

如第一个问题描述location可以用以下结构进行扩展___________is located in ___________ and it’s 【not】 far from_________. It takes me_______from_______to go there.如 The Forbidden City is located in Tian Anmen and it’s not far from my home and it takes me only 10 minutes walk from my place to go there.第二个问题描述什么时间去的,可以通过what who when where why来扩展,如: When I was a high school student, I went there with my parents to enjoy our vacation 。

回答第三,四个问题时,对于特定的历史建筑物而言,需要重点描述这个地点或描述对象本身具有较多的特征或特别之处、所以,在选择对象的时候,要注意一些其自身的特色,以及可以提一下在此建筑物中的经历,如描述西湖West Lake就可以描述它的美景wonderful lake view, 美食different kinds of lake food,在那边做的活动outdoor activities such as boating and taking a walk.I would like to describe the Xi'an City Wall. Xi’an is an ancient city in central-northwest China. There are many historical sites there, including the famous Terracotta Army. However, I’d like to describe the Xi'an City Wall. Although it’s less known than the Terracotta Army, it’s an amazing site that impressed me very much.I went there during my school trip when I was at high school.

I remember it was May, so the weather was warm and sunny.Well, our group went around the site with a tour guide. The site is huge, so the tour took about two hours. We climbed the Wall from one of the gates. We saw the gate towers, the moat around the Wall, and the suspension bridge. We also walked in the park around the Wall that has many beautiful trees and flowers.I really enjoyed visiting the Xi'an City Wall. First, it’s the oldest city wall in China that is so well preserved. So when you walk around it, you feel like a part of history.

Another reason is that I’m interested in engineering and it’s going to be my major at university. So it was very interesting for me to see all the different structures at the site. I tried to imagine how people built those structures without the modern equipment that we have today. All in all, visiting the Xi'an City Wall allowed me to learn more about Chinese history and architecture. It was a great discovery!

Describe an interesting place that few people know

You should say:

Where it is

When you go there

What you can do there

And explain why few people know there

Well Beijing is a city with many well-known museums, like the Capital Museum or Beijing Museum. But there is another museum in Beijing that few people know and that is Beijing Railway Museum. I come to know this museum through a friend Jim. He is a big fan of trains and he knows all the history and background stories about trains.

What the Railway Museum to him is what a Disneyland to a 7-year-old girl. It is not until he told me about this place that I came to know there is really a museum of trains. I guess most people who know little about trains hardly know this place. It has exhibited more than 50 trains, whose years date back to 1881 to 1993. In the Railway Museum, you can see the first steam train in China, some other trains named after Chairman Mao and General Zhude, and trains made by other countries like England, US, Japan, Russia and Belgium.

It is an interesting place, especially to little boys and also grown-ups who are crazy about trains. These old trains are like big toys to them. They fancy every train they see. The different colors, shapes and styles also leave a deep impression on me. Walking in the museum, I seem to feel the passage of time.
